Finding your passion

It's not news to those who know me that I like to shop.  I'm surprised that the cashiers at Target don't greet me by name at this point.  But ever since I've been doing photography, and especially once I started focusing specifically on children, I'm always on the lookout for cute props.  Almost all of my shoots are outdoors or on location so I don't have a lot of big stuff, but show me something cute and put it on sale, and I'm like that fish you caught at the end of the day .. reel me in and drop me in the boat!  I used to be able to keep all of my gear in a small area of the house, but almost 7 years later and I now have my eye on an entire section of the storage area of our house.  I have everything from different backdrops and children-sized chairs and stools to outfits and jewelry, to my ever-expanding collection of reflectors, diffusers and other camera gear.  I remember when excitement used to be defined as a hot new pair of spring shoes - now I get excited over new glass and Speedlights.  Once you find your niche, happiness comes in unexpected forms.

(Of course, it's totally reasonable to have really cute shoes to wear to the next gig where you whip out that new lens.)
